USA , T&T, Mexique, pull through

Sunday is the final day of second-round qualifying action in the CONCACAF region, with six return fixtures scheduled to decide the last remaining participants in the region's first group stage.
In the first contest, the Unites States put a predictable end to Barbados' dreams of a place in the group stages of North, Central American and Caribbean qualifying for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa on Sunday.
The islanders put in a credible performance after the 8-0 drubbing they suffered in Los Angeles last weekend, but a new-look USA - loaded with young hopefuls from the youth ranks - were not to be denied as Eddie Lewis scored the only goal in Bridgetown to make the aggregate 1-0 and put the Americans through to the first group stage. Suriname managed to put the finishing touches on a surprise win over fancied Guyana. After pulling off a 1-0 win in their first leg last week in Paramaribo, the Surinamese pulled off a 2-1 win at on the road in Georgetown on Sunday, knocking the 12th ranked and much-fancied Guyanese out of contention.

Germaine Sergio Van Dijk and Clifton Sandvliet (who scored in the first leg) both grabbed goals in the first half as Nigel Codrington pulled on back for Guyana. Cuba got the job done in Havana, beating Antigua and Barbuda 4-0 on the night after their tricky first leg ended 4-3 on the road mid-week. Roberto Linares was the hero with a hat-trick for the Leones del Caribe.

Jeniel Marquez added a fourth in the second half to help the Cubans march into the group stage with a straightforward 8-3 aggregate victory. The Netherlands Antilles suffered a heart-breaking 1-0 loss to Haiti on Sunday night. Having done the hard work to earn a 0-0 draw in Port au Prince last week, the much improved Dutch islanders only lost out through a Eugene Marta own goal in the first minute of play in the return leg. The unfortunate incident means Caribbean champions Haiti - never hitting the high notes - move on to the group stages and the Antilleans, despite a brave effort, head for home.

Trinidad and Tobago brought an end to Bermuda's big dream of moving on to the group stages with a 2-0 win on the road on Sunday. After the Bermudans won the first leg 2-1 in Macoya, the whole island was hoping for more of the same in the return leg. All they got was a 2-0 loss as T&T move on to the next round through goals from Darryl Roberts and Stern John, which brought the aggregate to a slim 3-2 in favour of the Trinidadians.
